Zaragoza Goalkeeper Faces Lengthy Ban After Punch Sparks Derby Chaos

A tense La Liga 2 derby between Real Zaragoza and Huesca descended into chaos after goalkeeper Esteban Andrada punched opponent Jorge Pulido during stoppage time.

The incident unfolded after Andrada, who had already been shown a red card, pushed Pulido to the ground. Moments later, the Argentine goalkeeper reacted angrily and struck Pulido in the face, sparking a mass confrontation between players from both sides.

The situation quickly escalated, with multiple players getting involved in the altercation. Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jimenez and Zaragoza’s Dani Tasende were also sent off as tensions boiled over.

Despite the disruption, Huesca held on to secure a 1-0 victory in front of their home fans, but the result was overshadowed by the dramatic scenes on the pitch.

Andrada, who is currently on loan from Mexican side Monterrey, now faces the possibility of a lengthy suspension. Reports suggest he could be banned for up to 12 matches for the punch, in addition to the standard one-match suspension for his dismissal.

Following the match, Zaragoza strongly condemned the incident, calling it unacceptable and damaging to the spirit of the game. The club confirmed it would review the situation internally and take appropriate disciplinary action.

Both Zaragoza and Huesca remain in the relegation zone, battling to avoid dropping into Spain’s third tier, adding further pressure to an already intense derby encounter.
