BJP Targets INDIA Bloc, Claims Alliance Collapse Amid Election Trends

As Assembly election results trends emerge on May 4, 2026, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said the outcomes indicate “deep cracks” within the INDIA opposition bloc and claimed the alliance has no future.

According to trends from the Election Commission of India, the BJP is leading in West Bengal with 192 seats, while the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) is ahead in 94 constituencies. The party is also leading in Assam.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said the election results reflect a breakdown of coordination among opposition parties. He stated that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi failed to effectively lead the INDIA alliance during the elections.

Poonawalla also criticised Gandhi for not being present on the counting day, alleging a lack of leadership and coordination within the alliance. He said the bloc no longer holds relevance and lacks direction.

The BJP leader credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the party’s continued electoral growth, stating that despite being in power for over a decade, the party is expanding its presence across states and increasing its vote share.

BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde also responded to the trends, thanking voters in West Bengal and describing the results as a significant mandate in favour of the party.
