Dispute Over Baba Neem Karoli Ancestral Property, Six Granddaughters Claim Legal Heir Rights

A dispute over the ancestral property of Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj at his birthplace in Akbarpur has now reached the administrative level. Six of his granddaughters have formally claimed hereditary rights over the property and have submitted their position before the authorities.

According to the family members, the property has neither been sold nor donated to any trust or individual. They have requested the administration to examine the available government records and enter the names of the legal heirs in the relevant property documents.

The dispute reportedly concerns the ancestral house, dak bungalow and temple-related property associated with Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj’s birthplace.

Complaint Submitted to District Administration

The matter came before the district administration after Manoj Rawat, husband of Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj’s granddaughter Bhavana Rawat, submitted a complaint at the District Magistrate’s office on August 24.

The complaint alleged that Thakur Ji Hanuman Trust had taken possession of the ancestral heritage property. Following the complaint, the administration initiated a process to examine the claims made by the parties involved.

District Magistrate Santosh Kumar Sharma constituted a three-member inquiry committee headed by Additional District Magistrate Judicial Arvind Dwivedi. Both sides were also asked to submit their responses within seven days.

The committee is expected to examine the documents related to the property as well as the claims made by the family and the trust.

 Six Granddaughters Claim Hereditary Rights

In their response submitted through the tehsildar, six granddaughters — Bhavana Rawat, Sunila Sharma, Archana Sharma, Vandana Sharma, Ritu Tiwari and Richa Rawat — claimed hereditary rights over the ancestral property.

They stated that the property had never been sold by the family. They also claimed that it had not been donated to any trust or individual. On this basis, they have requested that the names of the legal heirs be entered into the relevant government records.

The family has also referred to the existing property records in support of its claim. According to their response, the house-related record for plot number 220 still carries the name of Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj.

Plot number 211 is reportedly recorded as the birthplace of Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj. The granddaughters have requested the administration to verify these records and establish the legal status of the property.# Family Seeks Recognition of Property Rights

The granddaughters have also requested that, if their hereditary claim is established during the inquiry, they should be given recognition of their rights over the property and possession as per law.

The administration will now have to examine revenue records, house records, property documents and other evidence presented by the parties. The legal ownership and inheritance rights can be determined only after the relevant documents and claims have been properly examined.

 Administrative Procedure Creates Another Complication

Another issue has emerged regarding the manner in which the family’s response was recorded.

The granddaughters reportedly visited the tehsil office on September 7 to submit their response to the notice issued by the tehsildar. However, as the same day was observed as Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas, the response was reportedly registered by officials as a complaint.

As a result, the response could not directly reach the Additional District Magistrate heading the inquiry committee. This has created an additional procedural issue for the administration.

The authorities will now have to address both the property dispute and the procedural issue concerning the submission of the family’s response. Once the family’s response reaches the inquiry committee, the next steps in the investigation are expected to become clearer.

For now, the dispute over Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj’s ancestral property remains under administrative examination. The final position regarding ownership and hereditary rights will depend on the documents and evidence verified during the inquiry.
