Delhi Minor Girl Allegedly Gang-Raped and Murdered, Four Arrested

A case involving the alleged gang rape and murder of a teenage girl has been reported from Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar area. Police have arrested four suspects, including three minors, in connection with the case.

According to police, two knives, clothes allegedly worn at the time of the incident and a tempo have been recovered during the investigation. The investigation was initially complicated because the victim’s identity could not immediately be established.

The victim was later identified, after which police determined that she was a minor. Investigators subsequently focused on CCTV footage, forensic evidence and the suspected vehicle believed to be connected with the incident.

Body found in an open field

According to police, the body was found on the morning of September 13 in an open field near a farm close to the Lal Boundary area on Kushak Road in the Swaroop Nagar police station jurisdiction.

The condition of the body made the initial identification difficult. Police said animals had damaged the body after it was left in the open area.

After receiving information about the body, police teams reached the location. Crime and forensic teams examined the scene and collected relevant evidence. The body was subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination as part of the investigation.

More than 50 CCTV recordings examined

Police then began examining CCTV cameras installed around the crime scene and along nearby routes. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Lokesh Varan said that more than 50 CCTV recordings were examined as investigators attempted to reconstruct the movements around the time of the incident.

During the review, a suspected tempo was seen moving in the area. However, police said the vehicle’s registration number could not be clearly identified because of poor visibility and darkness at the time.

Investigators then connected footage from cameras installed at different locations to trace the suspected route taken by the vehicle.

 Tempo traced to Khadda Colony

According to the police investigation, the tempo was located in Khadda Colony on the night of September 15. Investigators identified its driver and questioned him as part of the probe.

Following the questioning and further investigation, police arrested four suspects, including three minors.

Investigators are now questioning the accused to establish the sequence of events and determine the alleged role of each person in the case.

Police claim one accused was allegedly known to the victim

Police have claimed that one of the arrested suspects was allegedly in a relationship with the teenage girl. According to the police account, the suspect had consumed alcohol with his friends before the incident.

Police allege that the girl was subsequently subjected to gang rape. Investigators further claim that the accused feared that she might report the incident to the authorities or others.

According to the police version, the suspects allegedly attacked the girl with a knife, resulting in her death.

The exact circumstances of the incident and the individual roles of the accused will be established through the ongoing investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.

Two knives and clothes recovered

Police said two knives and clothes allegedly worn during the incident have been recovered. The tempo suspected of being connected to the case has also been taken into the investigation.

Forensic examination of the recovered articles is expected to form part of the evidence-gathering process. Investigators are examining the material to determine whether and how it was used during the alleged crime.

Identification of the victim was initially difficult

The victim could not initially be identified because of the condition in which the body was found. Police said the body had been left in an open area and had been damaged by animals.

Once the identity was established, investigators learned that the deceased was a minor. Police then expanded the investigation to examine her known contacts, movements in the area and the activities recorded by nearby CCTV cameras.

CCTV became a key investigative lead

CCTV footage emerged as an important lead in the investigation. Since the vehicle’s details were not clearly visible in a single recording, investigators reportedly combined footage from multiple cameras.

By following the vehicle across different locations, police were able to reconstruct its suspected route. This helped investigators trace the tempo and identify its driver, after which further questioning led to the arrest of the other suspects.

 Investigation continues

The police investigation is continuing, with officers examining CCTV footage, forensic material, the recovered articles, the post-mortem findings and other evidence related to the case.

Investigators are also working to establish the alleged role of each of the four arrested suspects and reconstruct what happened before and after the incident.

As the case involves a minor, the victim’s identity has not been disclosed. Further action will depend on the findings of the investigation and the legal process.
