A case involving alleged harassment and a road accident has been reported in south Delhi after a 21-year-old woman alleged that two motorcycle-borne men followed her and made objectionable remarks before allegedly hitting her scooter near Panchsheel Park Metro Station.

According to her complaint, the incident took place on the intervening night of September 11 and 12, when she was returning home on her scooter after completing an internship at an art firm in Lado Sarai. The woman said that two men on a motorcycle began following her near Panchsheel Park Metro Station and allegedly continued making objectionable comments.

She alleged that she tried to increase her speed and move away from them, but the two men continued to follow her. According to her account, they eventually came close to her scooter and their motorcycle allegedly struck it.

The impact caused her to lose balance and fall onto the road. She reportedly skidded for around 100 to 150 metres, suffering multiple cuts, bleeding and extensive skin injuries. The two men allegedly left the spot after the incident.

Passersby reportedly helped the injured woman and arranged medical assistance. She was initially taken to a hospital in Saket and was later shifted to another hospital in Noida for further treatment. According to the information available, doctors advised plastic surgery because of the extent of her injuries.

The woman is a fourth-year student at a design institute in Okhla and was also undertaking an internship at an art firm in Lado Sarai. She is currently recovering in her hometown and is expected to join the investigation after her health improves, according to police.

Police initially received a road accident call

Police said a PCR call regarding a road accident was received at Hauz Khas police station at around 1 am on September 12. When the police team reached the location, the injured woman had already been taken to a hospital.

Investigators subsequently examined CCTV footage from the surrounding areas. However, police said the available footage has not so far clearly captured the alleged incident or identified the suspected men.

On September 14, a relative of the complainant visited the police station and was shown the available CCTV footage. According to police, she was unable to identify the woman or the suspected persons in the footage. A complaint was subsequently submitted on September 15 through a lawyer representing the woman.

Police working to identify the suspected men

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal said a case has been registered against unidentified persons and that police teams are working to verify the allegations and establish the complete sequence of events.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area and attempting to identify the motorcycle-borne men. Police are also maintaining contact with the complainant, who is currently recovering in her hometown.

Establishing the exact sequence of events is a key part of the investigation. Police are trying to determine what happened before the collision, the role of the suspected men and the circumstances in which the woman lost control of her scooter.

At present, there is no official information confirming the identities or arrest of the alleged perpetrators. The investigation remains underway, and police are working to verify the allegations through available evidence.
