Indian Railways is set to conduct a special ticket-checking campaign from October 1 to October 31, 2026. During this period, railway authorities will focus on checking the validity and authenticity of passenger tickets. Special attention will be given to passengers travelling on concessional tickets, specified reservation quotas and railway passes.
According to the information provided, the campaign is being conducted ahead of the festive season, when passenger numbers are expected to increase. The objective is to strengthen ticket verification and ensure that passengers are travelling according to the applicable railway rules. The special campaign will be conducted by Central Railway.
Passengers travelling under a concession or a specified reservation quota will need to carry the required original identity document to establish their eligibility. Ticket-checking staff may verify the identity document along with the details mentioned on the ticket during the journey.
There is an important requirement for passengers travelling together on a single ticket. If several passengers are booked on the same ticket, at least one passenger listed on that ticket must carry the required original identity document. If the required original document is not produced during checking, all passengers travelling on that ticket may be treated as travelling without a valid ticket under the applicable railway rules.
Passengers travelling through railway passes will also have to follow the prescribed documentation requirements. Those travelling through an E-Pass or PTO will need to carry the required original identity document. They will also have to make sure that the E-Pass or PTO has been properly exchanged or converted into the prescribed authority for the journey before starting their travel.
The special campaign will also cover unreserved tickets. Railway ticket-checking staff will pay attention to the validity and authenticity of unreserved tickets as well. Where required, staff may use the TTE App for ticket confirmation and verification.
The campaign is intended to strengthen compliance with railway ticketing rules. Railway personnel will particularly monitor passengers travelling under concessions and specified reservation quotas. Railway passes and other travel-related documents will also be checked as part of the verification process.
The timing of the campaign is significant because the festive season generally sees increased passenger movement. With more people travelling by train, ticket verification becomes an important part of railway operations. The special campaign is therefore intended to ensure that passengers have valid tickets and the documents required for their particular category of travel.
Passengers travelling with discounted tickets, reservation quotas, E-Pass or PTO should check their documents before beginning their journey. Carrying the required original identity document can help avoid problems during ticket verification.
Passengers should also keep their tickets and relevant travel documents safely available throughout the journey. Railway staff may conduct checks during travel, and passengers may be required to produce the relevant documents when asked.
The special ticket-checking campaign will continue throughout October 2026. Passengers are advised to check their ticket details and carry the required original identification documents before travelling, particularly if their journey is based on a concession, special reservation quota or railway pass.
