*Asian Games 2026 LIVE:* India continued its strong performance at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games with another major achievement in archery. After the Indian women’s compound team secured gold, Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav added another gold medal by winning the compound mixed team event.
The Indian pair faced South Korea in the final. The contest remained closely fought throughout and eventually went into a shoot-off. Chikitha and Sahil held their nerve under pressure and produced accurate shots to secure the gold medal for India.
The victory has additional significance because the compound mixed team event is set to make its Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Games. India’s gold-medal performance in the event also secured an Olympic quota for the country.
Earlier in the competition, India’s women’s compound team had also produced a memorable performance. Chikitha Taniparthi, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Prithika Pradeep defeated China 238-234 in the final to win the gold medal. The victory also allowed India to retain its title in the women’s compound team event. ([Navbharat Times][3])
The Indian women’s team maintained its advantage throughout the final against China. Their accurate shooting helped them finish the contest with a four-point advantage. The result further strengthened India’s medal campaign in archery at the Asian Games.
Chikitha Taniparthi has been one of India’s notable performers in the compound archery competition. She began the Games with an impressive qualification performance, scoring 705 points in the women’s compound event. The score was a career-best performance and placed her at the top of the qualification standings
Sahil Jadhav has also delivered a strong performance in the men’s compound competition. His qualification score of 709 was the highest among the Indian compound men. Together with Chikitha, he helped India finish first in the compound mixed team qualification with a combined score of 1414.
India’s archery campaign at the Asian Games has therefore produced several important results across the team and mixed team categories. The performances of the compound archers have added significantly to the country’s medal tally and have also provided momentum for the remaining events.
The Indian contingent includes athletes competing in both compound and recurve archery. The team entered the Games with experienced and emerging archers across different categories.
The focus will now shift to the remaining archery events, where Indian athletes will look to continue their performances. The country has already collected important medals from the compound team competitions, while the individual events provide further opportunities for Indian archers.
The gold won by Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav is particularly significant because it came after a tense shoot-off against South Korea. Their ability to perform under pressure helped India secure another gold medal and an important qualification quota for the 2028 Olympics.
