Flydubai Captain Smit Suffers Skull Fracture in Attack

New details have emerged about the health condition of Captain Smit, who was seriously injured during an attack on a Flydubai flight travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. During the incident, Captain Smit was struck on the head, resulting in a depressed skull fracture. He received emergency medical treatment in Saudi Arabia before being transferred to Abu Dhabi for advanced care.

According to the available information, Captain Smit suffered multiple injuries during the incident. In addition to the serious injury to his skull, he sustained wounds to his limbs, chest and upper abdominal region. His condition is now reported to be improving, while a team of specialist doctors continues to closely monitor his recovery.

A depressed skull fracture occurs when a broken section of the skull is pushed inward toward the brain. It is considered a serious injury because the displaced bone can put pressure on the brain or cause additional damage. Such injuries require immediate medical attention and, depending on their severity, may require surgical treatment and continuous observation.

Captain Smit was initially treated in Saudi Arabia following the incident. Doctors there provided emergency care for his head injury before he was transferred to the United Arab Emirates. He was later flown from Saudi Arabia to Abu Dhabi for further treatment and admitted to a military hospital.

A specialist medical team is currently monitoring his condition at the hospital. Authorities have also allowed members of Captain Smit’s family to visit him. His family is being kept informed about his condition through regular medical updates.

During the incident, Captain Smit reportedly continued to act despite suffering serious injuries and heavy bleeding. He managed to open the cockpit door, allowing other crew members and passengers to enter the cockpit. This helped them gain control of the situation involving the co-pilot and assisted in stabilising the aircraft.

Following the incident, the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. The emergency landing was carried out as the crew dealt with the situation and prioritised the safety of the passengers and other crew members on board.

Captain Smit is 38 years old. Despite sustaining serious injuries, he continued to respond during the critical situation inside the aircraft. His condition is now being closely monitored by doctors in Abu Dhabi, where he remains under specialised medical care.

The latest medical information has highlighted the seriousness of the injuries he suffered during the incident, particularly the depressed skull fracture. His treatment is continuing, and his family is receiving regular updates about his recovery.
